SS-rank sits just below SSS in the extended grading systems popularized by Japanese gaming culture. Originally emerging from arcade leaderboards and fighting games, the double-S tier indicates elite performance that surpasses a standard S-rank. The convention is widely used in gacha games, tier lists, and anime power-scaling discussions.
