Earth is one of the four classical elements in Western philosophy, codified by Empedocles and central to Aristotelian and Platonic cosmology. It represents solidity, stability, and material form. In Chinese wu xing, earth (tu) is the stabilizing center among the five phases; in Hindu philosophy, prithvi embodies the tangible and enduring. Across cultures, earth symbolizes grounding, fertility, and the physical world.
