Tie-dye is the oldest continuous psychedelic fashion tradition, originating in 1960s San Francisco counterculture and persisting through every subsequent wave of psychedelic culture. The technique became synonymous with the Grateful Dead scene and was later adopted by rave culture in the 1990s.
