The Munitions T-shirt was created by Adam Back and other cypherpunks in the 1990s to protest US export restrictions on cryptographic software, which was classified as munitions under ITAR. Wearing the shirt -- which printed actual encryption source code -- was a form of civil disobedience, since exporting the shirt technically violated arms trafficking laws.
