The triskele (or triskelion) is a triple spiral motif found carved into the entrance stone at Newgrange, Ireland, dating to approximately 3200 BCE -- making it older than both Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. The symbol appears across Celtic, Mycenaean, and Sicilian cultures. In Irish druidic tradition, it represents the three realms (land, sea, sky) or the three aspects of existence (past, present, future). This variant places the triskele on the hand.
