[view source]Cultural Context
The reindeer is the foundation of Sami survival — food, shelter, clothing, transportation, and spiritual identity all flow from one animal. The Sami (indigenous people of northern Scandinavia and Russia) have herded reindeer for thousands of years, migrating seasonally across the Arctic as bozaovazzi (reindeer walkers). This tattoo represents the Sami ancestor lineage through the single relationship that has defined their culture across millennia.
