Thick brush stroke that goes in nearly full circle.
[view source]Cultural Context
The enso is a single brushstroke forming an incomplete circle — the defining visual gesture of Zen Buddhism. Painted in one breath without correction, it represents enlightenment, the void, and the acceptance of imperfection. The gap in the circle is deliberate: nothing is complete, nothing is permanent. In the codex, it's the Buddhist ancestor lineage distilled to its most essential mark.
