The bowl cut is a hairstyle where hair is cut to hang evenly around the head at roughly ear level, as if a bowl were placed on the head as a cutting guide. Historically associated with medieval European peasants and monks, the bowl cut was reclaimed in the 2010s by avant-garde fashion and K-pop culture as a deliberately anti-glamorous, retro-ironic statement. The slate coloration adds a muted, contemporary edge.
