Sudanese Sufi dhikr ceremonies are psychedelic without chemicals — spinning, chanting, and rhythmic breathing until trance states arrive through devotion alone. Every Friday at the Sheikh Hamed Al Nil mosque in Omdurman, the Qadiriyya order gathers for ceremonies that look and feel like the spiritual ancestor of the rave: collective movement, repetitive sound, ego dissolution. The taqiyah is worn throughout, connecting the wearer to one of the most visually striking spiritual traditions on earth.
