Grail #4221 · Concept · Browse all Grails →
[view source]Cultural Context
Huginn and Muninn ("Thought" and "Memory") are Odin's two ravens from Norse mythology — they fly across the world each day and return to whisper what they have seen. They also appear in the Mercury grail, which depicts Odin. Newgrange is a prehistoric passage tomb in County Meath, Ireland, built around 3200 BCE — older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. Its entrance stone and interior walls are carved with spiral and lozenge rock art patterns.
