Grail #9503 · Ancestor · Browse all Grails →
[view source]Cultural Context
The Medicine Buddha (Bhaiṣajyaguru) is the Buddha of healing, central to Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions. Thangka are Tibetan Buddhist scroll paintings used as meditation aids and teaching tools. Amrita is the nectar of immortality in Buddhist and Hindu tradition — Mike Crowley's "Secret Drugs of Buddhism" argues it may have been a psychoactive sacramental drink. Blue lotus (Nymphaea caerulea) is a psychoactive plant with historical ritual use.

Ancestors are a load-bearing trait in the Mibera system — each of the 10,000 Miberas inherits an ancestor as their cultural lineage. The ancestor grails represent each lineage as its own identity.
